How we handle your personal data — simple, secure and in line with the GDPR.
Last updated: 13 juli 2026
We like to keep it simple and secure. When you order glass from us or visit our webshop, you leave data behind — and we fully understand you want to know what we do with it. Below we explain in plain language how we use your data and how we properly comply with the privacy law (GDPR).
1. Who is responsible?
Your data is safe with Glastotaal. We are located at Basicweg 17, 3821 BR Amersfoort. We are the 'data controller', which simply means we determine how your data is used and protected. In doing so we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Which data do we collect?
We only ask for the information we really need. Depending on how you use the webshop, we process:
- Order data: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and the contents of your order.
- Account data: if you create an account, we store your login details and your previous orders.
- Payment data: you pay via our secure payment partner. We don't see your bank account or credit card number — we only receive a signal about the payment status.
- Contact data: everything you fill in when you send us a message or request a quote.
- Technical data: your IP address, which device or browser you use and — if you consent — how you click through our website via cookies.
3. Why do we use this data?
We don't do anything strange with your data. We use it solely for these purposes:
- To produce your order, invoice it and deliver it to the right address.
- To answer your questions or send a custom quote.
- To keep your account and order history working.
- To send you our newsletter — but only if you signed up for it yourself.
- To improve our webshop and configurator.
- To comply with legal obligations, such as our tax return.
4. The legal rules (bases)
Under the GDPR we may not use your data just like that; we do so on the basis of four legal grounds. Firstly, we need your data to carry out the purchase agreement with you. Secondly, we have legal obligations, such as our administration. Thirdly, we have a 'legitimate interest' in keeping our webshop safe and running. And for things like the newsletter and analytical cookies we ask for your consent in advance. You can withdraw that consent again at any time.
5. How long do we keep everything?
We never keep your data longer than necessary. For the tax authorities we must keep our administration (with your invoice) for seven years. Your account data is kept for as long as your account is active. Send us a message via the contact form? Then we delete it as soon as your question or request has been fully handled.
6. Do we share your data with others?
We never sell your data. We only share it with parties that directly help us complete your order. Think of our payment service provider, the glass suppliers who produce your made-to-measure pane, the carriers and our IT and hosting partners. With all these companies we conclude data processing agreements, so that they handle your data as securely as we do.
If you choose to have your glass installed, we refer you to our installation partner ProGlass BV. In that case we share the data ProGlass needs to quote for you and carry out the installation — your name, contact details, address and the make-up of your glass. For that installation job ProGlass is itself responsible for your data (it is not a processor acting for us); ProGlass's privacy policy applies to that processing.
8. Your rights
You are always in charge of your own personal data. You have the legal right to:
- view which data we have collected about you;
- have errors corrected or your data completely deleted;
- restrict the processing or object to it;
- request your data so you can take it to another party (data portability);
- withdraw consent previously given.
Want to make use of this? Then send an email to info@glastotaal.nl. Can't we work it out together at all? Then you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
9. How we secure your data
We take security very seriously. Our webshop uses appropriate technical and organisational measures. Think of a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS) and strictly limited employee access to your personal data.
10. Changes to this policy
Privacy law or our webshop may change. That's why we adjust this policy from time to time. You'll always find the most current version on this page, showing the date of the last change.
