With us you won't find a standard webshop that just pushes boxes around — we are glass specialists through and through. Whether you're a professional preparing a large nationwide job or a private customer renovating your bathroom: you configure your glass products entirely yourself in a few clicks. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

From our head office in Amersfoort we coordinate specialist deliveries and installations across the country. Our history
Five generations of craftsmanship
Our passion for craftsmanship runs deep in our DNA. The story begins in 1903 in Amersfoort, with the founding of Van Slooten Schilderwerken. What started as a local painting business with a ladder and a brush soon grew into something bigger. For generations we've supplied and installed glass — which is why we know the tricks of the trade like no other.
The world has changed a lot since 1903, and we've grown with it. Van Slooten Schilderwerken Amersfoort B.V. developed into a well-known nationwide player in glass installation. With Glastotaal.nl we bring all those decades of expertise together in a modern, digital platform: the craft of the past, with the convenience of today.
- 1903
The start on the Grote Koppel
Just before the turn of the year, Freek van Slooten registers his business with the Chamber of Commerce: Van Slooten Schilderwerken is born. Freek starts small, in a warehouse at Grote Koppel 13 in Amersfoort, right behind his parental home. Painting soon goes hand in hand with glazing — after all, whoever paints the frames also installs the glass. The business grows fast and by 1930 already employs fifty people.

The crisis and the second generation
Midden in de zware economische recessie gooit zoon Cor van Slooten zijn plannen om leraar te worden om. Hij stapt in het familiebedrijf, wordt door zijn vader opgeleid tot schilder en neemt een aantal jaar later het roer volledig over. Cor verhuist de zaak naar de Nieuweweg ("Hoek 't Zand") en opent er een eigen verfwinkel bij.

New Zealand and the third generation
Son Job van Slooten literally grows up among the paint cans and the panes. When his father Cor travels to New Zealand for four months in 1967, Job takes over day-to-day management. It goes so well that on his return Cor hands over the baton for good. In 1991 Job moves the business to a modern building on the Basicweg in the De Hoef business park.

The fourth generation: Taco van Slooten
Taco van Slooten, Job's son, grows up among the materials just like his predecessors. After his studies at the Painting Trade School in Utrecht and Business Management at Hogeschool Eindhoven, he follows in his father's footsteps and takes over in 1995. Under his wing, in 2003 the company celebrates a unique milestone: its 100-year anniversary, with four active generations within its walls.

The founding of Proglass
Demand for specialist, large-scale and complex custom glass rises so sharply that the glass activities are given their own identity. On 12 October 2005 Taco founds Proglass BV, spinning off the family's deep-rooted glass expertise. Proglass grows into a well-known, nationwide player in professional glass installation and supply.

Focus on the future
The original painting branch merges on 1 January 2019 to focus entirely on large-scale property maintenance. The pure glasswork branch continues to develop independently and keeps innovating under the Proglass BV banner.
- 2025
The digital step: Glastotaal.nl
To serve professionals and private customers even faster — without complicated quotation processes — Glastotaal.nl is officially spun off from Proglass in 2025. The aim: an open, honest and transparent digital ordering platform where you order your custom glass in a few clicks, with clear prices and no hidden catches.

The fifth generation at the helm
With the launch of Glastotaal.nl, the newest generation officially joins the business too: Thijs van Slooten. Today Thijs works closely with his father Taco. Where Taco brings the vast hands-on experience and glass expertise he built up at Proglass, Thijs adds the latest e-commerce techniques and digital innovations.
